GAME: AROUND THE CLOCK
ORGANISATION: Create a clock face/circle out of cones (ideally this will be about the size of a centre circle, depending upon space available). Mark 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock with red cones and the others in blue.
Split your pupils into 4 equal groups and get 1 group to go to each of the red cones, standing in single file facing towards the centre.
For each of the groups the cone they are standing at is 12 o'clock, the one immediately to their left 1 o'clock, the opposite 6 o'clock and so on.
PLAYING THE GAME: The teacher/pupil calls a number between 1 and 12. As a whole group the pupils walk/run in single file through the centre of the circle. Avoiding the other groups, they go around the named cone and back to where they started. The person at the front drops to the back and the game continues until everyone has led.
VARIATIONS:
Vary the style and speed of movement.
Introduce a piece of equipment relevant to the game you are about to play. Such as dribble a football.
Make it a relay with one person at a time going around the cone, tagging a team-mate or passing a ball back to a team-mate until everyone has gone.
Keep varying the cones called after each group/person has been.
Change so that participants go around the outside of the circle and back though the middle (with a view to introducing 1 or 2 taggers / defenders as passive opposition at first).
