PARACHUTE GAMES
BALL CATCH Half of the group holding the parachute the other half standing in a circle around the parachute. There is a ball on the parachute and the aim is to throw the ball only using the parachute to the children on the outside to catch, if they catch the ball they can hold onto the parachute. See how quickly you can get everyone holding the parachute.
CAT AND MOUSE You have one child underneath the parachute (the mouse) and then all of the other children are sitting on the floor holding the edge of the parachute. You then select a child (the cat) who will go on top of the parachute and they have to try to catch the mouse. The children who are holding onto the edge of the parachute must try to help the mouse by shaking the parachute to disguise where the mouse is. Children must take their shoes off to play this game!
SHARKS Everyone holds on to the edge of the parachute and sit with their legs underneath. Pick one child (the Shark) to go under the parachute. You then start telling a story about the sea, boats, weather etc and the children move the parachute appropriate to the story. The shark will then move around under the parachute and pull random children under the parachute where they will become a shark also.
WHEN THE WIND BLOWS Everyone holds onto the parachute standing up. You then ask a question and lift the parachute as high as you can and anyone who the question relates to must go underneath the parachute and swap places with someone else. E.g. anyone who played football last night, any one who had toast for breakfast.
STORY TIME Everyone sits underneath the parachute to make a den and you can tell or make up stories.
