Name :
Mandy Keating
Volunteer

How did they become involved; Mandy has sons who play football for Georgetown Boys and Girls club. The club were looking for a volunteer to take on a girls team and Mandy wanted to give it a go as she has always been a keen sports person and was already helping at a local Primary school with there Dragon Sport Football Club . There were a large number of girls interested in playing football at the school so she new she would have a base of players that would be keen to come along.

Mandy and her husband both attended the Dragon Sport workshop and accessed equipment to support the running of an U11 Girls football club. The club has over 25 girls regularly attending and filtering into a U11 Girls team that play in festivals and tournaments. Mandy also coaches the U13 and U15 Girls teams at the Club.

Mandy has gone on to complete her FAW C Licence and liaises closely with the Football development officer. She is now involved in coaching the U15 girls section of the Merthyr Tydfil Football Academy and organises festivals for all girls teams in the borough.

Mandy recently was awarded McDonalds Coach of the Year this award is given to the coach who has shown outstanding commitment and ability to get the most out of their players over the past year. Mandy said: Im gobsmacked I was thrilled to be nominated, but Im ecstatic at winning this award. Ive only been coaching for 18 months and Ive enjoyed every single minute of it.

Mandy is keen to get involved with other sports and gives up huge amounts of her time to support football in the Borough. She is a true asset to the Dragon Sport Programme!!
