Mike Armiger is a student who has been involved with Dragon Sport since November 2003. Mike was first introduced to Dragon Sport and its concept whilst on work experience with Monmouthshire County Councils Sports Development Team at that time. Since then he has become one of Monmouthshires most valuable volunteers.
Shortly after finishing his short spell with Monmouthshire, Mike attended a Dragon Sport workshop which give him the skills he required to become more involved with the scheme and since then he has not looked back.
Mike quickly enrolled to become a volunteer at two of the local Primary Schools in his home town, which gave him a great insight into how the scheme benefited children.
Since then Mike has grown to be an outstanding volunteer and now not only works in Junior Schools in Monmouthshire, but has become a member of the coaching staff at Abergavenny Mini Rugby Club and Abergavenny Dragon Sport Tennis Club. He is also moving into coaching at his High School, where he coaches the under 12s, under 13s and under 14s rugby teams. Mike recently attended the Commonwealth Games event for Primary Schools across South Wales, which he describes as the biggest and best event for school children hes ever seen. |
