How did you start playing sport? I started playing sport when my parents took me to the local rugby and cricket clubs at Lydney where I was brought up. I think I went there from the time I was in a pram. I just joined in when I was old enough.
What sports did you play when you were a child? I played mainly rugby and cricket, and a little bit but not much football.
What do you enjoy about sport? I enjoy the togetherness of team sport, and the happiness of sharing success together. Also the joy of taking part in something which you love and it keeps you healthy!
How do you keep fit and healthy? By playing sport for a start but I also spend a lot of time in the gym, either doing weights or cardiovascular training. I rarely go for two days without doing anything - except for now when I can't do anything because of a knee operation! It's killing me!
Who was the biggest influence on your sporting career? Apart from my parents, a chap called Graham Burgess who was a former player with Somerset and was coach at my school, Monmouth. |
