Power message:
"Without my parents I wouldnt have got anywhere. If you havent got support at home - whether its to build you up after a disappointing game or to make sure your feet are still touching the ground after a success - its a real struggle."

Name: Robert Croft
Sport : Cricket

Glamorgan County Cricketer - Spin Bowler and batsman and Test Cricketer for England. (21 Test caps and 50 One Day Internationals!)

How did you start playing sport?
Generally in the back garden with my parents and grandparents. Then with friends in the playground and after school. Once my interest in certain sports grew, my parents made sure that I got extra coaching/ tuition in these sports.

What sports did you play when you were a child?
Pretty much everything - from rugby to rollerskating. That's important because if you try everything, then eventually you'll find a sport you really like.

What do you enjoy about sport?
It gets me to meet new people so then you make new friends. You also get the chance to travel the world. Sport will also help you deal with other aspects in life and give you social skills necessary for everyday life.

How do you keep fit and healthy?
By eating good foods ie fruit, veg and lean meat. Going to the gym and of course playing sport.

Who was the biggest influence on your sporting career?
From a technical point of view ie coaches - 1. Tom Cartwright 2. Alan Jones 3. Don Shepherd 4. John Steele 5. John Embury. From a personal point of view I would have to say without doubt my parents and grandparents because they provided the opportunities for me to develop my skills. They have been and always will be there to help me deal with life.
