How did you start playing sport? My father played cricket so it was always a natural progression. I would follow Dad around and play on the boundary's edge. My school teachers were also very enthusiastic about sport.
What sports did you play when you were a child? A little bit of everything, I was a real sport Billy. I played rugby, soccer, basketball squash and cricket. I also enjoyed swimming and athletics.
What do you enjoy about sport? I particularly enjoy team sport because of the camaradie and the thrill of winning.
How do you keep fit and healthy? Cricket has changed a lot over the past few years. Teams have to be a lot fitter so there are a lot more team practices. Also, my wife Ruth cooks me nice healthy meals.
Who was the biggest influence on your sporting career? My father and my sporting hero, Ian Botham. |
